International K12 schools using blogs

This blog is about an international debate. They use the blog to debate things with people from other countries. It talks about dates for the debates and other information about them. It shows the winners of previous debates also. If you wanted to see what it is all about it has a lot of links you could go to.

This website is a support blogging type of deal. They wants students and teachers around the world to get involved in blogging. It has a lot of links you can go to look at international bloggers. It also has info on how to make a blog. This website would be really handy for a teacher or student who wants to get involved in blogging.

the fischbowl

This movie was very informative.  It started off giving statistics about the world and how the United States will not even be the number one english speaking country in america.  It went on to tell about how computers are becoming more and more advanced.  That one day the capacity of a computer will exceed that of the human brain.  Students in todays society have to know how to use a computer in order to do everyday tasks.  The movie talks about how children have to learn the necessary skills in computing systems in order to succeed in the world.  This movie made you think about stuff that you ordinarily would not think of.

ACCESS

ACCESS is a program for Alabama distance learning. It is for Alabama high school students to participate in programs of higher learning that they would otherwise not have access to. It offers online courses, summer courses, and video conferences. The students can take courses in mathematics, chemistry, and more. It also has a very helpful tab for teachers. It gives teachers ideas to motivate their students. It also gives teachers way to expand their teaching knowledge. ACCESS also gives a list of support centers for those who choose to use distance learning.

Another really great thing about ACCESS is the use of technology. It brings new technology into the classroom to simulate what will be used in the "real world." ACCESS seems like it is a very cool and useful program. I think a lot of schools should pick up this program and get their students, teachers, and parents involved.

ALEX

Teachers can use ALEX to plan their day. It has a tab that is called "tips and tricks." That would be really helpful to first time teachers who are new in the classroom. There is a place for teachers who are not good with technology. ALEX can help any teacher from dance to special education. ALEX is a really useful program and I think teachers should definately take advantage of it.

ALEX and ACCESS

ALEX, Alabama Learning Exchange, is a wonderful website for teachers. It gives information from lesson plans to distance learning. It helps teachers set up their lesson plans or look through ones already made. It also has web links for the teacher to use. Through those web links the teacher can find other valuable information.
ACCESS is what Alabama uses for distance learning. It provides technology to teachers through the internet. It gives them a way to find new ways to help kids learn. For the students there is an online Chemistry lab, equation plotter, and math help. There is even a place for parents to go and check things out. These two websites are very helpful for teachers.
